At Face Focused Orthodontics, our commitment goes beyond just aligning teeth and correcting bites to create a beautiful, aesthetic smile. We carefully plan each case to prioritize the overall health and well-being of our patients.
The Connection Between Airway Health and Orthodontics
Airway health is closely linked to the development of the mouth and facial structure. When airway function is imparied, it can lead to a range of issues, including disrupted sleep, breathing difficulties, and improper jaw development.

Airway Orthodontics emphasizes the importance of maintaining clear airways by addressing skeletal or dental misalignments that may cause obstructions. It goes beyond improving breathing; it also helps in guiding the development of the jaw and facial structure, reducing the risk of dental problems, and enhancing general health.

The benefits of proper airway function are far-reaching, influencing everything from tongue posture and swallowing to overall posture and the appearance of the jaw and teeth.
Unlike traditional orthodontics, which primarily focuses on aesthetics and alignment, our approach at Face Focused Orthodontics integrates the goal of achieving a beautiful smile without compromising overall health. And for those who might have suspected airway-related issues, our practice is dedicated to uncovering the root causes of breathing difficulties and providing long-term solutions.

During your initial in-person consultation, we will conduct a thorough evaluation using 3D imaging, X-rays, and Dr. Yu will examinate your oral anatomy and facial muscles. This allows us more information to determine if there are any underlying airway issues and develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses your specific needs.

While anti-snoring devices and other temporary measures can provide relief, they often fail to address the root causes of airway issues. Our treatment plans may include expanding narrow palates, correcting facial and jaw alignment, and we also collaborate with other professionals to ensure a comprehensive approach to airway health.

By addressing these issues at their source, we can provide more effective and lasting solutions.
Who Can Benefit from Airway Orthodontics?
Airway orthodontics is beneficial for both all ages. Signs that may indicate the need for treatment include persistent mouth breathing, hyperactivity or ADHD symptoms, chronic fatigue, poor performance at work or school, restless sleep, snoring, or pauses in breathing during sleep. These symptoms often indicate that the airway is compromised, leading to inadequate sleep and other health concerns.
